Review Movie Assassin’s Creed - Continued failure of the film adaptation of the game

Assassin’s Creed (AC) is one of the modern-day classics with an open world based on history and free play that tells the story of the battle between the two factions of Assassin and Templar. As a gamer, of course I have played through most games of this series and am quite a loyal fan of Fmovies.

And it's no surprise that in 2016 AC was put on the big screen to help spread this brand to a wider audience.

Before we get to the main topic, we have to mention the history of the movie and game intersection ... And to be honest, everything was awful. The number of movies made by games that can be viewed temporarily is counted on the fingers, good movies have to be rare and catastrophes are countless (I can even tell a long list of those movies. ) Of course, AC is inevitably suspicious of such a serious history. But with Ubisuck's supervision ... well, Ubisoft and using actor Michael Fassbender in the lead roles alongside Jeremy Irons and Marion Cotillard, we were really hoping AC could be the new milestone for the film. Follow the game after Warcraft.

And while there are good things, the movie has most of the bad things that are hard to close because it's a crazy fan ... I love to say painful words.

Since there are things that are quite hidden and not clearly stated in the movie compared to the game, I will try to explain in parallel the things, events, or phenomena in the movie and the game so that non-fans can understand. more and fans will have a chance to review it. Of course this review has spoiler.

Let's get acquainted with Callum Lynch, a boy with a horrific past when he saw his father kill his mother and flee for wandering for 30 years However, the "end" of his life was to be poisoned with murder charges ... Despite obituary, he was Sophia Rikkin and father Alan Rikkin of Abstergo for a chance to make a life, or rather live back the life of Assassin Aguilar De Nerha of Reconquista period in Spain in 1492.

Actually, in act 1, the editing was much more detailed, I tried to rearrange as above for easy tracking. Not only timeless, the act is an exposition - a huge explanation I fully understand when AC is trying to reach a new audience. I can summarize as follows: The Animus machine helps show the past of Callum's ancestors based on his DNA (game logic) to help Abstergo find the Apple of Eden - an object that can control the will of others. For what? In order for Sophia to eliminate violence, make the world more peaceful ... It sounds good, but Abstergo is the Templar and the purpose of that Templar is still to dominate the world and eliminate Assassin. Alan's "When there's a free will there will be no order" is actually quite true to the development of Templar from the game, and Sophia was built as if it was exploited but because of the willingness to contribute. and learn should accept.

Speaking of which, we have to comment on our actors a little ... They have tried their best, but still it seems they have not used up their "internal force" for this film, and in my opinion, playing the role is probably a bit of a compliment but indeed they are just fit to be in the story, nothing outstanding at all ... (Magneto, Alfred and my Talia ... ..)

In summary, act 1 gave us a pretty good set up, if not very similar to Desmond Miles in the first game. In addition, the film was also pleased to introduce us to the ritual of joining Assassin quite clearly: reading the famous oath "Nothing is true, Everything is permitted" and also according to the old tradition of Levantine Assassin is to remove the finger. The youngest (both show loyalty, both as a sign of fraternal identification, and also for the hidden blade to reach out of hand), and this detail will have an important element later.

* Fun fact: Because Assassin often involves the image of an eagle flying freely, the names of the main characters are more or less related to a certain bird. And Callum is no exception when his name in the original Scottish meaning is pigeon.

And look at this Animus image, sort of when connected to the past, Cal will also simulate the whole operation of the ancestors on a magic 4D projector platform ... In my opinion, it is a bit too much, although it suits The logical situation is that if according to the game, the character is simply lying in a bed, wearing VR and indifferently revisiting his past is a bit boring, the film should also have something like helping us see. literally "live in the past" by the protagonist. However, logically speaking, imagine how he would simulate on horseback, sitting in the air about 1 meter from the ground? At first I was a little uncomfortable, but then accepted and continued.

To come to act 2, first of all you should also know the prerequisite of the AC series: Returning to the past is always the key of the game when playing the famous assassins such as Altair, Ezio, Arno , etc ... spoiled for parkour, opened hidden blade assassination and many other interesting games. So when the movie for us comes to Aguilar and the action, many fans will surely be excited .... And please be happy as long as you can go because Callum will return to Aguilar in ... 3 scenes with a total amount of time is probably more than half an hour. In my opinion this is an extremely confusing option when what people expect most appears only 1/4 of the movie time ... You ask me if the game has a play scene of the current event time? Yes, but it is very linear and usually everyone will play it over and go back to Animus.

But saying that doesn't mean it's too bad. Because whenever Aguilar and his partner / love Maria appear, everything happens great, if not asymptomically perfect in terms of loyalty to the scenes and actions in the game. Air Assassination, knife throwing, parkouring all over Spain's rooftops, the choreography was beautifully choreographed and took place at a fast pace that made us really nervous. It even has a fan service so good that when you climb it, an eagle will fly over it, just like the map opening points in the game.
